Magellan Aerospace designs and manufactures the Wire Strike Protection System® (WSPS®). It’s the cutting edge in helicopter safety, providing a measure of protection for helicopters in the event of accidental contact with wires in forward and level flight.

How it Works

Reduces the chance of wires penetrating the cockpit through the windshield.

Reduces the possibility of wires contacting the rotors or control linkages

to cause flight control damage.

Reduces the possibility of wires becoming ensnared in the landing gear

or other equipment.

The Magellan WSPS® is designed to guides wires over the fuselage into high tensile steel cutting blades. A basic system is comprised of:

  • Upper cutter

  • Lower cutter

  • Windshield deflector

The WSPS® uses proprietary design, analysis and manufacture of components uniquely suited to each helicopter model, and that can be optimized for each helicopter platform with mission-specific equipment.
